29 Years, 29 Projects: My Favorite Copywriting Work (So Far)

It’s my birthday, I’m officially 29! As I’m heading into the homestretch of my 20’s, I’m celebrating with a look back at my 29 most favorite copywriting projects I worked on.

From website overhauls to brand voice development to punchy little email subject lines that still make me proud, these projects shaped my journey from journalism student to full-time freelance copywriter. Some pushed my creative limits. Some taught me how to write under pressure. A few just made me laugh while I wrote them.

Whether you’re a fellow writer, a potential client, or just someone curious about what copywriters actually do, this portfolio-style roundup is part highlight reel, part gratitude post, and 100% written with love.

Let’s take a look.

Website Copy That Still Slaps

Website copy is my creme de la creme, my bread and butter, my cinnamon apple if you will. Seriously though, I love writing website copy and these are a few of my favorites.

1. Landry’s Inc. (Restaurant’s Unlimited Group)

Type Of Business/Brand: High-end Restaurants in the Houston Area

What I Wrote: Executive Biographies for the Meet The Team Page

4.Yak & Yeti Restaurant

Type Of Business/Brand: Disney World Restaurant

What I Wrote:
Private Dining Webpage

Why It’s A Fave: Writing for a brand that is in Disney World was probably the first project that blew my mind. While this private dining page is pretty straightforward, I just find it so cool that I get to write for a restaurant that I visited on my first trip to Disney World as a kid.

Email Copy Worth Opening

Emails are one of the most cost-effective ways to get your product in-front of potential customers. Check out these emails I’m proud to have delivered straight to millions of inboxes across the globe.

5. Morton’s Secret Menu Campaign

Type Of Business/Brand:
Restaurant

What I Wrote:

6. Later Gator Valentines Newsletter

Type Of Business/Brand: Coffee Trailer

What I Wrote:
A fun monthly newsletter showcasing Valentines features

Informative Long-Form Blogs

Long-form SEO blogs are how I got my start in copywriting. My first couple of clients relied heavily on blogs to generate website traffic and I learned so much working on these over the years.

10. The Lodge At Pine Creek

Type Of Business/Brand: Senior Memory Care

What I Wrote: SEO-Optimized Blog

Why It’s A Fave: This blog represents a larger project I did while working for Roman Z Media Agency. Writing for the healthcare industry was new for me at the time and I learned so much about memory care and supporting elderly members of our community while writing these blogs.

11. Cozy Meal Magazine

Type of business/brand: Cooking Experience Brand

What I wrote: Michelin Star Restaurants in San Francisco Guide

12. Rejuvenate Bath & Body

Social Content That Got Clicks

Confession time, I am not a social media content creator. While I love scrolling and getting ideas on social media, I am just not very good at shooting videos which is a very big part of cultivating an effective online presence. One thing I am good at is writing captions and brainstorming for social media which is reflected in these social favorites.

14. Patton’s Steakhouse

Type Of Business/Brand: Local Restaurant

What I Wrote: Social Media Posts

Why It’s A Fave: Patton’s was such a cool concept to be a marketing assistant for. It is a local speakeasy with a “secret” entrance through the other restaurant in front of it. I had blast making social content for this brand and showcasing the unique concept.

15. Savoir

What I Wrote: Influencer Event

Why It’s A Fave: This event was a collaboration with local Houston influencers that eventually turned into a weekly promotion. We Drink Pink Night was a huge success and created buzz on social media. For this project I wrote captions, created stories and captured live content at the event. (I also built the flower wall used at the events but that's not really a copywriting skill.)

19. Brick House OktoberFest

Type Of Business/Brand: Restaurant and Tavern

What I Wrote: In-Store Signage.

Why It’s A Fave: This is a seasonal Oktoberfest sign that was displayed in Brick House locations around the country. I have so much fun working for Brick House because they have a casual and playful tone I love writing in.

Fun Fact: The powers that be wouldn’t let me write this the correct way as “Oktoberfest” so it went out spelled wrong.

20. Joe’s Crab Shack Private Dining

Type Of Business/Brand: Restaurant

What I Wrote: Promotional In-Store Signage

Why It’s A Fave: Joe’s Crab Shack is a one-of-a-kind brand with an edgy sense of humor and a raucous tone. Writing for this brand is always a good time, and this holiday signage was no exception.

Oddball Projects

As an in-house copywriter I get roped into all kinds of miscellaneous projects that don’t fit into any one category. Writing for diverse projects that keep me versatile is one of the best parts of being a creative.

25. TPO International Womens Day

Type Of Business/Brand:

27. Executive Messaging Landry’s Inc.

Type Of Business/Brand:
Corporate Communications

What I Wrote: Thanksgiving Message

Why It’s A Fave: This is the first project I remember working on as a copywriter at Landry’s Inc. I ghost wrote a holiday message in the CEO’s voice that went out to the entire staff across the country.

Fun Fact: This project cracked me up because I received a ghost-written thank you note from myself on Thanksgiving Day as one of the company employees.

Bonus: Projects That Never Saw The Light of Day

The number one rule of copywriting is “learn how to kill your babies”. As a copywriter I’ve had so many projects that got edited into oblivion, killed, or just never made it out of the Google Drive. Here are a few of my favorites that never went live. For privacy purposes I won’t be including any company names.

28. Celebrity Collab

Type Of Business/Brand: Restaurant
What I Wrote: Commercial Script

Why It’s A Fave: I was brought on to write a commercial script with a big-name star that was supposed to work with the business I was working for. This project never panned out but storyboarding a commercial and working with a musicians team was still cool.

29. Home Goods Products

Type Of Business/Brand: Restaurant

What I Wrote: Slogans For Homewares

Why It’s A Fave: This project never even made it out of the conference room but it was such an interesting idea. A potential collaboration with Home Goods fell through but if it had been greenlighted I would have been able to see my slogans on the shelves. Maybe one day!

And Many More…

I feel incredibly lucky to do work that lights me up. Every project on this list represents a lesson learned, a creative challenge, or a collaboration I’m grateful for, and I wouldn’t trade any of it. Huge thanks to the amazing clients who’ve trusted me with their words over the years. You’ve made this journey so fulfilling.

Cheers to 29! I’m excited for what’s next, and if you’re looking for a copywriter who writes with strategy and heart, let’s make something great together.
