Blue Water Advisors underwent a complete rebrand following a leadership transition, including a new company name, visual identity, and website. I was responsible for developing the website copy and messaging strategy from the ground up.

The new brand centered around a simple but distinctive idea: “What’s Your Blue Water?”

Rather than positioning financial planning as a collection of products and services, the brand framed wealth management as a path toward personal goals, whether that means growing a business, preparing for retirement, creating financial security for family, or building a lasting legacy.

The Challenge

Financial services websites often rely on industry jargon and generic promises that can make firms feel interchangeable. The challenge was creating messaging that established trust and credibility while giving the new brand a memorable identity.

The website also needed to speak to multiple audiences, including business owners, professionals, individual investors, and employee benefits clients.

My Approach

I developed the website messaging around the brand’s aquatic theme, using the concept of "blue water" as a metaphor for financial confidence, opportunity, and long-term goals.

The strategy balanced personality with professionalism by:

  • Creating a consistent voice across the entire website

  • Using maritime-inspired language to reinforce the brand identity

  • Simplifying complex financial concepts into approachable content

  • Positioning advisors as guides helping clients navigate important decisions

  • Building trust through clarity rather than industry jargon
